On the hunt for: Inner nature warrior princess

As many of you know, I am obsessed with camping. Everything about it...for example...

No showering
Having a fire & not worrying about smelling like smoke
Hiking
Bike rides
Naps whenever the heck you want
Reeses S'mores
Corn on the Cob
Hot chocolate for breakfast
Card games
Rock painting...that eventually turns into face painting
country music
NO GETTING READY (that's definitely one of my favorite reasons for sure son! word.)

&& the list could go on and on.

So Shay & I packed up the truck, left North Ogden, & headed for Bear Lake for our last little summer getaway together before volleyball and school starts...{where the crud did summer go?}

With work and other things going on, we ended up planning this trip about a month in advance.
We were ready to release our nature warrior-ness!

The journey was about to begin...

Yes, we set up that 10-man tent with just the two of us...
what's it to ya??

banana grams, reeses s'mores, & hot chocolate. love.

"We've lived here our whole lives...and we are never leaving. Too many memories in this home.
What about the traditions we've made? Ya, bring the children in for the traditions too. They need something
to pass down to their children after that."
haha

This, my friends, is Lenny...a true friend that sheltered
us when we needed it most

we are awesome....

PASSIOW COOOL!

freaked by the ridiculous lightning storm...it was quite terrifying
BUT at the same time, it was amazing :)
{kels} "I kinda want us to get hit by lightning.."
{shay} "WHAT in the world??"

we still had an hour and a half or so until we were able to go back into the tent
As much as we love Lenny, he's just not comfortable to sleep in

Raspberry Dayz at Bear Lake...so obviously we got raspberry shakes
(with lime)

"did you forget about the PASSIOOW {passiowww}??? OOOOOOoooooo..
&& Did you ever missss me??"

We are the world. epic. passiow coo. wow. geniuses. getcha some. done son.

So, another 4th has come & gone :( and the summer seems to be slowly slipping away from us. Hopefully we are all taking full advantage of this fabulous time (because, as we all know, it's the best time of the year).

Summers are what I, Kelsey Michelle Sorensen, live for. Everything about it makes me grin from ear to ear...
& I've had a great summer so far.

~I started working again...& I love my boys (Jack & Joe). I also love that they are in a watching "The Office" phase. My job rocks to say the least.

~I was able to cross off a summer bucket list item too: Learn how to WAKEBOARD. Thanks to some great friends (Katie, Dave, & Scott) and their patience, I was able to get up & now I am crazy in love. Now, added onto my life bucket list...own a boat...a girl can dream :)

~I was able to go down to St. Jeezy with my fam earlier this summer & am going again next weekend with some of the girlies (& grandpa) on the Rydalch side to go see The Little Mermaid at Tuachan. Yessssss.

~I went to my first ever baseball game too--the Bees lost but it was a lot of fun nonetheless. Ate a hot dog for dinner, learned a little bit more about the game, and when we stood to sing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" I accidentally said, "Buy me some peanuts & apple jacks." It didn't sound right so I turn to momma Shell and we both just started laughing hysterically {shockerrrrr}. Just so everyone knows...its CRACKER JACK not apple jacks...I'm pretty sure that's a common mistake?? (nope, no it's not).

~For the 4th (tied for first for one my favorite holidays), we went to the parade {where it rained?? what??}, sang in the Oakley Patriotic program choir for my first time (& definitely not my last), stole Craig and Kena's scooter and took it for a spin with Liss & Jo, had a BBQ with mine & carli jo's family (homemade ice cream=heaven in a cup). Finished the night with fireworks & a movie. Great day. So blessed to live in this country & have those fighting for my freedom (both in the present and in the past).

Keep the sun shining and the snow away and I'm a happy camper :)
Unlike this post, summer must never end.
...Ever. Please?
Just dance on Kinect...hilarious

a fave...we love our banana boats

drivin' down the 101...

It was Californ-i-a or bust for me, Shay, and Josselyn. What's the best way to start a summer vacation or to celebrate the end of another school year? A road trip with your girls...that's how.

We hit the open road & couldn't wait 'til we hit the west coast.

LA bound for the night

Newport Beach before we headed down to the beautiful San Diego

had I died & gone to heaven? It felt like it

Drivin' down the 101

LA the first night (shopping, dinner, getting stressed trying to drive & navigate)

Disneyland Tuesday (the happiness place on earth can still hold onto its beloved title. We hit all the rides we wanted {you know, tower of terror, screamin, soarin over california, thunder mountain--where joss lost her phone but luckily when we went back after waiting in a different line we found it--pirates of the caribbean <3, Indiana Jones, and the list could go on & on. We were able to watch the fantastic World of Colors show after the parks had closed too...if you are ever there & considering watching it, I highly recommend it. It was so great {& I could barely see it..that's how much I liked it. Get there early to get good seats. Lesson learned & now I share that wisdom with all of you})

Wednesday we were San Diego bound. We stopped by Newport Beach before we started the trek then took Highway 1 until we hit 101. Yes, it took us longer, but it was definitely worth it. The little shops & vibe it gave was great. And we were able to sing our theme song & have it actually apply to us.

San Diego Thursday & Friday which meant beach day for both days. We shopped at surf shops in the morning, then once it warmed up  got out to the beach and body surfed, ate our official treat {ice cream cones}, got our tan on, & loved every second. We only got lost a couple times thanks to Shay's driving, my navigation skills, and Joss's lookout. We hit Coronado Island before we headed home and loved how small town, chill it was. From the shops, art stores, cafes, and beach, they had it all.

We stopped by Vegas on the way home, sat out by the pool Saturday morning {a great way to start off Joss's birthday} & could tell that we were just getting fried (for Shay & I we were getting 'more' fried. For Joss, she just turned black...darn you!

Then it was homeward bound {we weren't sure we wanted to come home yet}. We survived the road trip by beating off any creeps, eating delicious food, singing obnoxiously loud, taking pics, occasionally getting on each others nerves {mainly while trying to find a destination or road hahaha}, having sorry parties, and loving being together. It was fabulous and wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
